How it gets to caffeine-free
Either it never had caffeine, or we took it out gently.
Herbal blends were never caffeinated to begin with. Real tea is decaffeinated with water or carbon dioxide. Most supermarket decaf uses ethyl acetate or methylene chloride instead — we do not carry it, and every product page states which route applies.
- Route 01
Naturally caffeine-free
Herbals, rooibos and fruit infusions never contained caffeine. Nothing is removed, because there is nothing to remove.
- Route 02
Swiss Water process
Caffeine drawn out of real tea leaf using water and carbon filters alone. No chemicals touch the leaf at any stage.
- Route 03
CO2 process
Pressurised carbon dioxide targets caffeine molecules and leaves the flavour compounds behind.
- Never
Chemical solvents
Ethyl acetate and methylene chloride are cheaper and faster. We do not stock tea that uses them.
